The statewide STOP-DWI increased enforcement efforts will begin Wednesday, July 3 and end Sunday, July 7.
Research has shown that these increased enforcement initiatives can reduce impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. The New York State Police, County Sheriff and municipal law enforcement agencies will collaborate across the state to enforce this initiative to target those who are putting theirs and others’ lives at risk.
July Fourth weekend is just one of many holiday celebrations targeted for STOP-DWI enforcement initiatives. The campaign also targets Labor Day Weekend, Halloween and the national ‘holiday season’ in December.
